Rumors are circulating that the next Gen Chevy Equinox could very well built on the global Delta architecture, the same platform used by the popular Chevy Cruze and the Buick Verano.
The rumor has not been confirmed by Chevrolet, but if it does happen then consumers around the world would get the exact same model. The new Chevy Equinox would be smaller in size and three to four hundred pounds lighter than the current Chevy Equinox. With gas prices getting close to $4.00 a gallon, a smaller, lighter Chevy Equinox could prove to be a good decision on General Motors part.
The interesting thing to note is that the downsizing wouldn’t necessarily affect cargo room for the Chevy Equinox. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if these rumors pan out and a a smaller lighter Chevy Equinox happens.
